Early Education

Kindergarten Program

4 years to 5 years, where applicable

Ready for school, ready for life

Our Kindergarten classrooms bridge early learning and formal schooling. At this stage, children are refining foundational academic skills, deepening friendships, and developing the independence and resilience that prepare them for a smooth transition to Grade 1. Educators make learning meaningful and fun through play, inquiry, and exploration.

At a Glance

  • A bridge between Preschool and Grade 1 with a focus on school readiness.
  • Purposeful, inquiry-based learning across all developmental areas.
  • Daily opportunities to build independence, empathy, and confidence.
  • Ongoing partnership with families to support individual growth and goals.

Daily Care & Routines

Kindergarteners thrive on predictable routines that promote both structure and autonomy.

Learning Environments

Small-group and individual learning time provides opportunities to explore early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving.

Rest & Reflection

Children who no longer nap have quiet time to read, create, or engage in calm, independent play.

Meals

Family-style dining continues to build community, cooperation, autonomy, and self-help skills.

Outdoor Play

Daily outdoor activities encourage teamwork, gross motor development, and social connection.

Learning & Development

An Emergent Curriculum guides learning as children explore their interests through inquiry and experimentation—strengthening skills across four key developmental areas.

Motor Skills

Activities like art, sports, and Munchkinetics and Mini Masters strengthen balance, coordination, and fine motor control needed for writing and active play.

Language

Educators support reading and writing through Alpha-Mania and storytelling that develop phonetic awareness, comprehension, and creative expression.

Cognitive Growth

STREAM learning (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math) inspires curiosity and critical thinking through hands-on projects and experiments.

Social–Emotional Development

Teachers model empathy, collaboration, and self-regulation—helping children navigate friendships, manage emotions, and build confidence in group settings.

Proprietary Learning Programs

Kindergarteners take part in all of our proprietary programs—engaging, multi-sensory experiences unique to Kids & Company that help children to reach their developmental milestones.

Alpha-Mania

Our early literacy program builds a foundation in literacy through music, storytelling, and phonetic play.

Mini Masters

Our fine arts program introduces children to renowned artists and their techniques, encouraging creativity.

Munchkinetics

Our movement and physical education program builds coordination, balance, and self-confidence through music and physical play

Enrichment Programs

Kindergarteners gain curiosity, awareness, and meaningful early learning experiences through enrichment programs.

  • Sign Language enhances communication, inclusion, and understanding of non-verbal expression.
  • Yoga promotes calm, mindfulness, and emotional regulation through playful stretching and breathing.
  • French reinforces language and cognitive skills through songs, stories, and games.
  • STREAM concepts—Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math—are woven into our play-based curriculum to encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving.

Our Kindergarten Program helps children connect knowledge with confidence, preparing them for the next chapter in their educational journey.

Educators nurture curiosity, perseverance, and self-esteem, ensuring every child feels ready and excited to take on Grade 1. Through collaborative learning, friendship, and fun, children leave our program as capable, caring, and confident learners—ready for school and ready for life.

Transition Week

To ensure a smooth and positive start to care, Kids & Company provides families the benefit of a transition week.

Transition week begins one week prior to your child’s first week of care and is a five-day schedule designed to gradually introduce children to their new learning environments, educators, and peers. It helps to ease separation anxiety and to foster an overall positive introduction to care for the whole family.
